SW Center for University Business, Samsung Electronics Affiliate Career Consulting Center Exchange and Cooperation Day Event Held

The SW Center for University Business (Director Eunseok Lee) held an exchange event with the Samsung Electronics Affiliate Career Consulting Center and government projects and industry-academic cooperation activities on April 24th at the Samsung Academic Information Center on the Natural Science Campus.

Samsung Electronics Affiliate Career Consulting Center: Comprehensive services including education and consulting for lifelong, career design, transition, and career management for employees of Samsung Electronics (excluding DS), Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDI, Samsung SDS, and Samsung Display.

As part of the value dissemination program, this exchange and cooperation event organized by the SW Center for University Business introduced major industry-academic cooperation activities within the university to Samsung Electronics affiliate retirees (or soon-to-be retirees), advisors, and retired executives to prepare them for their second careers. The main programs included ▲Government project and industry-academic cooperation activity lectures by Sungkyunkwan University ▲Space tours including the Samsung Academic Information Center, Learning Factory of Industry-Academic Cooperation Center, Department of Intelligent Software, and Graduate School of Global Entrepreneurship ▲Conversations with Samsung Electronics alumni and non-alumni faculty members.

Jongmin Kim, Director of the Samsung Electronics Career Consulting Center, emphasized, "It was a valuable time to directly experience and deeply feel how higher education in Korea is changing at Sungkyunkwan University" and added, "It was a precious experience that once again made me realize how important a leader's innovative spirit is in organizational, cultural, and systemic changes."

A Samsung Display trainee who participated in the Samsung Electronics affiliate career consulting program said, "I was greatly surprised and impressed by how quickly and impressively Sungkyunkwan University, especially the Samsung Academic Information Center, is innovating and transforming, unlike what I thought would be slow changes in universities and university libraries."

Eunseok Lee, Dean of the College of Software Convergence (also Director of the SW Center for University Business), stated, "Since 1996, Sungkyunkwan University has laid the groundwork for significant development after recruiting the Samsung Group Foundation and establishing the Medical School in 1997," and added, "Through continuous cooperation with the Samsung Electronics affiliate career consulting center, we will secure an outstanding talent pool with diverse job experiences and expertise." He further stated, "We will work together to expand the range of job opportunities and expertise sharing for current and former employees who hope to become industry-academic cooperation professors after retirement."

The SW Center for University Business plans to continue expanding its value dissemination activities for national and social development on the basis of humaneness, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and to further enhance its "Sungkyun Spirit" by translating the Confucian principle of completing tasks after laying the foundation into substantial contributions for the development of the country and society, encompassing students' SW-AI major courses as well as non-curricular programs reaching from elementary and middle school students to the general public, employees, retirees, and the elderly.
